As of this writing, New Year’s Day, the pandemic is accelerating in the US, in California, and in our county. Anecdotally, this afternoon’s walk toward Inspiration resulted in an early turn-around to escape the many hikers who were not wearing masks. It would be naive to think the local caseload will diminish soon.. Or, as a declarative sentence, the caseload won’t diminish soon. Hopefully by next September.
In any event, no event.
Keep your distance, stick to your pod, and speaking as a former hospital janitor, wear your masks.

I put this on the SBRunning website. I used to hold my breath and turn my face away when passing people, but haven’t ventured out recently as I had surgery for bone spurs the day after the Ventura marathon would have been. I am usually more concerned about the dogs on the trails. Last year I got bitten once, scratched once and chased several times.
